I can't get my head out of this sand

They fucked with your soul!

Thought #33: Emptiness filled with words

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows

While browsing the Christmas offers on Amazon.co.uk, I caught a glimpse of a small image of Harry Potter which you could click for pre-orders of the 7th and final book in the series! The book hasn't even got to publishing yet!!! Anyways, the real big news was the title... The rumours claimed it would have been Harry Potter and The Pyramids of Furmat, but J.K. Rowling wittily disclaimed that, writing:
The Pyramids of Furmat lie a few miles east of the famous Fortress of Shadows, not far from the magnificent Pillar of Storgé. Many tourists prefer to view these ancient monuments at night, when they are illuminated by the Green Flame Torch.
All these locations, monuments and items were supposed titles for previous books in the series. On Solstice night, that is December 21st, as the prophecies had called for, the announcement was made from Rowling's official site, in form of a hangman's puzzle. The Harry Potter Lexikon made this astounding connection: There is a foreshadowing of when the announcement would be made in the 5th book, Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix, chapter 35, in the Hall of Propecy:
"Two figures, pearly white as ghosts, fluid as smoke, unfurled themselves from the fragments of broken glass upon the floor and each began to speak. Their voices vied with each other, so that only fragments of what they were saying could be heard over Malfoy and Bellatrix's shouts. '...at the Solstice will come a new...' said the figure of an old, bearded man.... '...and none will come after...' said the figure of a young woman. The two figures that had burst from the shattered spheres had melted into thin air"
December 21 is the Winter Solstice, and since this is the final book in the series, "none will come after."

Now the hunt for the meaning behind the title has begun. Last time, everyone was trying to figure out who or even what the Half Blood Prince was. This time, rumours are flying about the Hallows (word used for holy relics in the middle ages), most possible connected to or even being the Horcruxes, and their deathly nature.

The wait is far from over. Although Rowling stated she hopes the book would be released in 2007, nothing is set in stone. Yet for the die-hard fans among you and the most eager Harry Potter readers, click on the banner below to reserve your own copy of the seventh and final book to this magical and beautiful series.

Εσείς, τι θα κάνετε αυτές τις γιορτές;

Αφού διαβάσετε το παρακάτω, που μου ήρθε ως μειλ από τη Νατάσα πριν μερικές μέρες, μήπως... αλλάξουνε τα πλάνα σας;

Aυτά.

Santa Claus: The Great Imposter?!

While looking for something "Christmas-y" to post this holiday season, I stumbled upon (without using stumble this time, as I did my... research, well before I had installed it :P) this particular site. What one may find here, apart from the fact that he or she "CAN BE SAVED" near the end (which made me roll on the floor laughing) is that Santa Claus is NOT who you think he is...

As Old Saint Nick is making his final preparations, wrapping the last of the presents, feeding his reindeer for the big night, throwing a -hell- of a party to congratulate the elves for helping him... dark forces are at work! For he, according to the site, is the Devil incarnate! So, the devil, gets his chance to overthrow God once a year, at the night before Christmas, when he tries to buy the children to his side. Why one would appear to be a kind hearted, plump, old man with a white beard, is really easy to guess. The devil likes playing tricks and is the master of disguise. And who could be more suitable to become a follower of a false god than innocent children?

Rummaging out references from the Bible, the Old and New Testament, poems (!!) and drawings (!!), it really is quite intelligent, the way the "author" of this article presents his arguments. It makes you even question your own faith in the red clothed old man who you wished would bring you presents each year. Sorry to burst your bubble, he doesn't exist, but I wish he would (although I've seen lots of movies where adults believe in him once again - take Sandra Bullock for example). Of course the site agrees to his being imaginary, but this is yet another trick by the evil one. To warp our minds!

Follow THIS link to Aenaos' greek Christmas post where he questions the diligence of Sandy Claws (lol! Nightmare Before Christmas reference) to deliver presents to the whole world! (Well, Aenaos, maybe he has branched his business and made the rest of the Santa Claus family a substitute for each region)

"The Great Imposter" is a well put together piece, but to me, it looks just like an attempt by another sneaky and tricksy someone, to convert people to "the right faith". Let's all just be children this Christmas season and not let anyone get to us. Feel the happiness and joy we should and get lost in the magic this holiday has to offer.

I hope this Christmas time finds you in great health, brings joy and all that's best to each and every one of you.

Merry Christmas! (oh how I wish it'd also be white!!! *sigh*)

Oh! And ho, ho, ho! I hope you weren't bad boys and girls this year!!! *wink*

Color me weirdo...

Or call me a weirdo... But, I have never, EVER, done a more accurate test in my life. It's like it's shouting "It's YOU!". I'm kinda freaked out... Paskalip found the site through Stumble. Click on the image to go and take the test yourself. It's worth it, I swear!

My results:

Your Existing Situation

Works well in cooperation with others. Needs a personal life of mutual understanding and freedom from discord.

Your Stress Sources

Resilience and tenacity have become weakened. Feels overtaxed, worn out, and getting nowhere, but continues to stand his ground. He feels this adverse situation as an actual tangible pressure which is intolerable to him and from which he wants to escape, but he feels unable to make the necessary decision.

Your Restrained Characteristics

Emotionally inhibited. Feels forced to compromise, making it difficult for him to form a stable emotional attachment. Able to achieve satisfaction through sexual activity.

Your Desired Objective

Wants interesting and exciting things to happen. Able to make himself well-liked by his obvious interest and by the very openness of his charm. Over-imaginative and given to fantasy or day-dreaming.

Your Actual Problem

The tensions induced by trying to cope with conditions which are really beyond his capabilities, or reserves of strength, have led to considerable anxiety and a sense of personal (but unadmitted) inadequacy. He attempts to escape into a substitute world in which things are more nearly as he desires them to be.

Your Actual Problem #2

Has a fear that he might be prevented from achieving the things he wants. This leads him to employ great personal charm in his dealings with others, hoping that this will make it easier for him to reach his objectives.

Woah! I really need to visit the shrink!

I can't take this song off my mind. I feel like singing the bridge and refrain all the time! YUI you rock! I can't wait for January 17th, when her single will come out :( Rolling Star is the 5th opening to popular anime Bleach (which has gone downhill lately cause of awful filler episodes...)

Hot Kiss, won't you tell me what you miss, boy?
My Love, you got me spinning like a wound-up toy

Juliette & The Licks - Hot Kiss

You might recognize Juliette Lewis from her acting career (Cape Fear and Natural Born Killers among others), but I wish I had known about her singing career as well, before her live gig here in Thessaloniki, cause I would've been the first to buy a ticket. Her rock singing, travels you back in time to all those punk influences and grunge vocal strings. I found most all her songs enjoyable and catchy, something really impressive. The group's latest album is titled Four On The Floor. Thanks to sushi-pervert for introducing me to Hot Kiss!

Pan's Labyrinth

Spain, 1944, in a fascist regime, at the time of Franco's Resistance, when this fairy tale begins to unravel. A young girl accompanies her mother to a military outpost where her step-father is captain and a most foul man. Soon, she'll follow a strange creature to a labyrinth, where a faun tells her she's not a mere mortal, but in fact the reincarnation of a princess to the Underworld's kingdom.

With magnificent story-telling and a gorgeous cinematography by Guillermo Navarro, you'll hardly forget Guillermo del Toro's movie. The film was nominated for the Golden Palm at Cannes and got a 22 minute ovation from the audience. It's score, an incredible 8.4 on IMBD.

So come this way if you please... Enter the labyrinth...

Just beware: Fairy tales are not always meant for children...

Ultra hyper happy mode!

I'm so happy today! My cool swag from Japan arrived at 4pm and I couldn't believe my eyes ^_^ My first internet order :) And my most favorite things in the world (anime and manga) packed together! If you live in Europe please do NOT make the same mistake as I did! Try to order as few items a time as possible, cause international shipping, comes with hidden costs! Them darned customs!!! You have to pay VAT (Value Added Tax) for all orders from Japan :( Plus there's extra charge if your order exceeds a certain amount of money. I didn't know that... Oh well! I guess I'm not buying a Nintendo Wii any time soon :( But aren't they cool??? ^_^ I'm so happy anyways! Hahaha :D These all came from amazon.co.jp in less than 5 days (I chose International Express Shipping... Big spender move right? LOL! Unfortunately, I can't keep any money in my pocket...) I could have chosen yesasia... And maybe I will next time... I guess it'll be cheaper, although the total was less for amazon. Makes you wonder! OK, to my friends who had birthdays and name days and I still owe them presents: Don't kill me! This is one of the reasons I didn't have money to buy you anything T_T I will real soon! :D

*~*~* Click on image for full view *~*~*

My order: The full Death Note manga (12 volumes) plus the Limited Edition (comes with this awesome box to put all the volumes, a diorama and 5 character figurines) of the 13th Volume titled How To Read with extra info and interviews, the 7 Rozen Maiden volumes released so far and the first two volumes of the Honey and Clover II anime (my favourite!), both in First Press Limited Edition (the first comes with a Hoipp-chan strap shown here - I put it on my DS Lite) and the 2nd volume comes with unicorn stickers hahaha :D)!!!

Yay! *ultra hyper happy mode: ON*

Το λογίδριο που απαγγέλεις προέρχεται από το σκοτεινό εκείνο μέρος μέσα στο κεφάλι σου, όπου κατοικεί το μυαλό σου. Από κει ακριβώς όπου μου ήρθε ουρανοκατέβατο αυτή τη στιγμή και μένα και το έγραψα. Και αν δεν πεις σε κανέναν την αλήθεια (ούτε τη δική μου, πως γράφω ό,τι να 'ναι), πως δηλαδή σε πήρε ο ύπνος στις ταινίες του και προτιμούσες να δεις μαζί με τους άλλους τον Σπάιντερμαν, έχεις γίνει και το πρώτο όνομα. Μα γιατί να κοροϊδευόμαστε;

Κουλτουράκι κανείς;

Taxidermia

I was so excited and anxious all at once. I felt my blood pumping and as little hair as I now have on my head falling, it was my first night... My inauguration night to this year's Thessaloniki International Film Festival and I had invited both Nassia and Chris from school. I told them they shouldn't miss this movie...

First time I saw Taxidermia vaguely referenced was last year on Twitch. The site which is dedicated to the bizarre and off-shore films. Back then it was just a mock-up poster and some words about it and György Pálfi, the Hungarian director behind previous "hit" Hukkle. Later came the trailer...

What I did mention to both my friends was that the movie had a plot that went like that:
Three generations of men, the grandfather, the father, and the son, each one... unique. You have to come with me! There will be taxidermy, fast eating competitions and... flaming penises! Would YOU miss out on this freak show? I won them over, they came and we rushed to find good seats. The movie began that very moment and it played out like a script in three stages, each dedicated to one of the men.

The grandfather is a hare-lipped soldier serving a bully lieutenant, who... "graced" us with his penis, which came out spurting fire. Staying in a shack in the cold of winter, he day- (and night) dreams of potential sexual intercourse with one of the females living in the nearby house. Not to ruin your own entertainment, I'll suffice to say that during this segment there is bestiality, graphic scenes of sex (see Nassia? Porn!! Who needs porn when he has Taxidermia!), pigslaughter and violence.

His son, born with a curly pig's tail, is an obese man competing in fast eating in communist Hungary. Brace your seats cause you're in for some nasty images of fat, disgusting vomit. He's also competing for the heart of an obese woman, a champion in competitions of the same sort. By now, it wasn't just the tail that was curled (it was cut don't worry), I saw Nassia curled up to the side trying to force herself to continue watching this... "stupidity".

And last, the "athlete's" son, who's everything unlike his father. Deadly skinny, he is a professional taxidermist (rejoice everyone! this segment wraps the story and binds everything together... if you know what I mean...) providing his father, now a monstrous blob unable to walk, reminding me of Jabba the Hutt from the Star Wars legend, with endless amounts of chocolate eaten with their wrappers... He also buys margarine to feed some gigantic cats his father wants to someday train for eating... This part is where the real fun begins, mutilation, entrails galore, taxidermy... And chocolate wrappers lest we forget!

As a whole, I enjoyed this film. I screamed "yuck" in more than one scenes and a lady next to Chris held her eyes closed for the better part of the third segment. Nassia was looking at me with evil scornful eyes saying "you owe me big time"... I guess you can all deduce who liked it. What I kept saying was "The cinematography is great!" and all I got as responses was a grunt... Oh well, if you are willing to watch this try to control your gag reflexes and get ready to laugh your heart out, avert your eyes in pain and disgust and wonder... What was this film's message?

Tune of the week #34

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills your mind
You finally find, you and I collide

Howie Day - Collide

It's quiet, soft and mellow, but also powerful and mesmerizing; his voice, the lyrics, the song.

Japanese word of the week #16

Please, try not to burst it...

AWA

Meaning: bubble

Weekend Wall 34

This comes from the famous (to the fans of the manga culture at least) Death Note manga and anime. The figures seem as to have been carved in marble. It is so dark in all its whiteness. At least I like it :P

GROW games

If you have time to spend and I mean a LOT of time, why not try out how well you'll do on one of the GROW flash games? Take Grow Cube for example, the latest of the series. No instructions, just 10 simple buttons you can click on at any time.

Here's the catch. Each item depicted on these buttons, becomes part of the "world", be it a sphere, a map, or the cube as is the case here. The point is to max out every single item. To do so, you have to think. The connections between them, how one affects the other... Find the right order and watch the flash world magically evolve! Why not give it a try? And if you feel generous, tip the creator for his intelligent games :D

Nelly Furtado ft. Juanes - Te Busque

I just LOVE the Juanes part... His voice is awesome and thank god someone translated it for me 'cause I don't know... Spanish yet :P So, it's a sad song but it makes me feel warm inside :P I'm weird. I've told you o_O

From Nelly Furtado's latest hit album Loose.

Children of Men

A dystopian thriller set in 2027, directed by Alfonso Cuaron and starring Clive Owen, a movie about lost and regained hope, conflict and rejoicing, with an awfully loose script (changing a lot of things from the novel by P.D. James it was based on) that CAN touch your heart -once you forget the stupid plot and can supress your anxiety- in the most gloomy of ways...

Scored 8.0/10 on IMDB and 71% on Rotten Tomatoes.

BORAT!

Jagshemash!

British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen (of Da Ali G Show) made up this Kazakhstani character of a misogynistic, anti-Semitic journalist, travelling across the USA, his ultimate goal to have "sexy time" with a special someone, while on his trip unsuspecting Americans express their views of the world and the war in Iraq and try to teach him the American way, so as Borat completes his "cultural learnings", which make the viewers either laugh their hearts out, boo him, or cringe at times...

Overall a fun movie to watch (if you can get past some of the jokes people might think offensive), way better than Ali G In Da House. The third character from Da Ali G Show is about to have a movie as well. Waiting for Bruno then...

The movie scored a whopping 92% on Rotten Tomatoes! Visit its official site HERE!

Weekend Wall 32

I've been cleaning my room these days after my frustrating 2 months exams period... I found loads of junk to throw out and I still have to find place to put all these boxes with ancient CDs and VHS. I also had to throw out my origami paper cranes T_T *sniff*

Follow little Alice through it...

KAGAMI

Meaning: mirror

2 έξω.

Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton - Doctor Blind

Metric's vocalist Emily Haines collected songs she wrote by herself, for herself, after friends suggested she should record them. Knives Don't Have Your Back is her 2nd solo project and I'm really glad I had a chance to get a hold of it. Just don't listen to Doctor Blind when YOU also have the blues. It's moody, sulky, depressing, mellow and... amazing!

Visit Emily Haines' official site and watch the clip. It's spooky!

Blogger Beta

I've gone and changed my blogger account into the beta one.

I wonder WHY the hell I did it, since it screwed with my excellent header and my blog's sidebar :(

Oh, the blog title appears twice, it messes with the image Paskalip created, but I HAD to type something "thanks" to the "wonderful" beta *#%^@!D^@(*#@curses*
Thank God Paskalip came to the rescue!

Oh well, please try and make yourself like this new "style". I'll perfect it when I have some time. Now is really NOT the time.

IMPORTANT: Haloscan commenting is not supported and I switched to the original blogger commenting system. I've lost all comments from the blog, but they're saved for my viewing pleasure in my haloscan account.

To comment, simply click on "thinking" under each post!

P.S. The only think I really DO like, is the awful "publishing" sign, during posts and template updates. And the new tree archive, so I won't have to make lists for wallpapers, tunes and japanese words. Just click on the little arrows for a drop-down menu! :D

Tune of the week #30

It's cold and snow's actually on the ground of this no-snow town.
and instead of cars, street's trafficing in sleds.
Men become boys again.
And there's a war on the corner with no guaranteed winner.
It's just a snow fall of snow balls, evidence of the winter.

Minus the Bear - Hooray

This Seattle-based band offers unique instrumental compositions with prominent guitar strings and technicality in their music. They are known for their amusing song titles and this tune is from their latest album Menos el Oso.

BRICK

Movie review in one paragraph:

Film noir
set in the 00s, with technicolor and high school kids speaking like exact counterparts of their 30s and 40s ancestral characters (the girl victim, the detective with the brainy sidekick, the Kingpin, the diva with her lapdog, the cunniving woman, the mindless muscle and the crazy snitch - you most certainly will need an urban dictionary), undecided yet whether it's hilarious, or intriguingly mysterious, but certainly worth a watch.

Out on DVD for Region 1 and 2, a new (as of 19th October) theatre release in Greece (only Athens' screenings for the time being). Official site HERE.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

I'm having once again (last year was HELL), trouble with my PC.

My PC's PS (power supplier) and its fan suddenly stopped working and I had to blow... to get it to spin once again. Since this shouldn't be the way to make it work, I won't be on the PC as often and MAY not update my blog till October 31st or early November, when I'll take the whole tower for inspection.

My friend Paskalip offered to give me a PS of his if he hasn't thrown his last one away that is, so I may be up and running much earlier. But for the time being, I'm sorry if I take some time to update, if you like my blog and posts :(

Thanks for your understanding and wish me luck!

I have to write my thesis come November anyways, so I cannot afford to lose my precious PC :(
All fingers crossed!

HOPE 2 CU BACK REALLY SOON!!!

Tune of the week #29

It’s not meant to be like this, not what I planned at all,
I don’t want to feel like this, Yeah,
No it’s not meant to be like this, it’s just what I don’t need,
Why make me feel like this, it’s definitely all your fault.

Imogen Heap - The Walk

Instead of simply saying "Take a hike", "The Walk" travels you among the lofty clouds with Imogen's voice as your guiding spirit. So dreamy!

Airport Security: The Game

I'm quite certain this game was made after 9/11. Play as an airport security guy, checking each boarding passenger for prohibited items, ranging from tooth paste and toilet seats to their very own clothes! Give it a try! I know you want to see them naked :P

Click the image to link to the site and start playing!

P.S. You'll have to endure a stupid ad before the game starts but as the site name says, it's truly addictive!
